Christian womanhood embraces so many things in a woman’s life but first and foremost comes the intimate relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Learning to hear His voice is the first step and then learning to obey Him in all things is the second. Oswald Chambers says:"Jesus cannot teach us anything until we quiet all our intellectual questions and get alone with Him." Susannah Wesley, mom to 19 children, found a way to spend time with her Creator, so should we too find the time in our busy days to first seek the Lord. I like to get up early and spend time reading my bible and praying, in the quiet of the day. I find that it is a time of intimacy with my Lord. This time with Him helps me to focus on Him and His perspective rather on the worries and cares of the day. But all day my aim is to be in fellowship with my Heavenly Father so that I can allow more and more of Him in my life. Our goal as Christians is to be healed and made whole by His work in our hearts. When we struggle against this work we are exhausted from the battle. But when we surrender to Him in each little area (anger, frustration, impatience etc) His grace comes in and enable us to reach out and love those around us. Susannah Wesley is said to have thrown her apron over her face in the midst of her children to spend time with the Lord. Charlotte Mason says that children shout grow up "in the presence of the King". We need to let our homes be open to Him. We need to lift Him up and our relationship with Him before our husband and children. It is His work in us that then becomes a healing presence to our children in our homes. Without His love we will be a "noisy gong". Some books that have helped me tremendously in carving out my relationship with my Father are listed in my inspirational christian book page. "If you want to change, you will have to eliminate from your life, or in some cases, minimize certain activities so you can become a healing presence to your family."
