The Content Woman
To become a content woman means to be able to look beyond your circumstances and find joy in the certainty that God has a purpose for your life.
Neither husband nor children can do this for you. No matter how your school day went, whether there were angry words passed - you can still find contentment in knowing you are where God wants you to be - right here...right now! Ever heard the saying "If the mamma is not happy, then no-one is happy?" or perhaps another version: "You cannot give from an empty cup!"
I also acknowledge that if it weren't for the challenges of homeschooling my children and spending the majority of time in my own home, I would never have experienced God's work n my life the way I have. Homeschooling tends to make us so much more reliant on God's grace and mercy as we allow Him to do the work in our hearts and as we allow the home to do it's work in our lives. But beyond that, my approach on this aspect of caring for myself as a woman, is beautifully said by Charlotte Mason: “If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play! If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favorite book, or in a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents. The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them be."
