Homeschool Assessments and Tests

by Basheerah

Hi there

As home schooling moms should we be setting tests and exams for our children? Tests are one good way to measure the childs understanding of a section of work. Sometimes one of my children will say they understand something but I'm not sure if they do.

What about exams like we wrote at school? is all that necessary?

Kind regards
Basheera

Homeschool Testing

Yes, of course testing has its merits but I believe only at the correct level when children's characters can cope with the stress.

Exams need to be taken for some sort of school leaving certificate and we do need to prepare our children for this time.

The DoE in SA asks for assessments at the end of each phase (GR 3-6-9) and you can do this through the Private Examinations Board and you can find them at www.homeschool-assessment-tests.com
