Lapbooking... rejuvenation for mom, fun for kids
by Elaine Togeretz
I have been homeschooling for 19 years and have finally found a great way to showcase our children's work: lapbooks. There will always be workbooks and textbooks for some schoolwork your children do, but if you fit in working on a lapbook, you will have a product worth keeping, displaying, and re-reading. Something like a fold-up version of a science fair presentation, a lapbook is made from one or more file folders, with the completed work ("mini-books", pictures, charts, , "notebooking pages", copywork, etc.)glued, taped, or stapled onto this. Lapbooks can be made up from any subject but so far we've found science and history topics a good place to start. Ready-made kits with solutions can be purchased from a number of suppliers, and the web is full of information on making your own. If you are feeling "burnt-out" and would like a change to rejuvenate your homeschool, may I recommend lapbooking.
