Little Footprints
A South African Preschool Homeschool Curriculum

The
Little Footprints enrichment program is designed to take you and your little ones on an arm chair journey around South Africa,
exploring the fascinating people, animals and places that make up this beautiful land.
While most families who use Little Footprints are South African homeschoolers, we (yes...that's right - I co-authored this program witha friend)
are noticing that many more ex-pat South African living all over the world are now using Little Footprints.

We have found that South African homeschoolers need South African stories to read to their children – they don’t just want to read about bears and baseball
and snow at Christmas and things we don’t have here in South Africa.
Little Footprints lets you read to your children about crocodiles, rugby, cricket and babboons, as well as other aspects of South African culture.
Although we believe that little children do not need a formal school curriculum, we realized that mothers need South African resources
to create a stimulating learning environment for their children as an introduction to the world and God’s creation and to lay a foundation
for their later learning.
As a parent using Little Footprints, you will receive an Enrichment Guide which is full of ideas to use to enrich the stories
that you will read aloud together with your children.
By using this preschool homeschooling program you, mom, will get into the habit of reading aloud and sharing books with your children.
We also help you to establish routines in the home.
These routines will help you ease into more formal learning at a later stage. We have had so many reports that our lesson themes delight
children and stimulate them to want to learn more about the country around them.
A phonics and maths program could be added for older children who are ready for formal schooling.
A Charlotte Mason-style language program, based on the natural way of acquiring language skills, is included.
In the Enrichment Guide, suggestions are given for:
Bible study, memory verses,
copy-work,
developing readiness skills and life skills,
nature study,
social studies, geography,
basic language arts,
pre-maths and plenty of arts
and craft activities, which are appropriate for this age group.
Each book that is used in your studies is summarized for you at the beginning of the lessons,
and additional resources to compliment it are listed. More than half the books are also available in Afrikaans
and there are different purchase options to suit your pocket and way of learning.
