Raising magnanimous children

Raising magnanimous children, childrens chore charts, chore list, help south african children

No matter where you live one of your goals as parents should raising magnanimous children. (See Living Education E-zine Issue #9 ). South Africa is a country on the way to healing. Our family is more and more aware of those around us who do not have as we do. The numbers of poor, homeless, orphans and people living with Aids is almost too much to comprehend as a percentage of population of approximately 50 million. Of this population there are about 5.5 million people living with aids.

Perhaps you are wondering, this is a homeschooling website…how does this fit in? If we make raising magnanimous children a goal, we will be putting forth a generation of strong influencers of the next century. These, then adults, will not think twice about serving the needs of their country by making a difference in the lives of the poor, sick and homeless.

15 months ago we began a journey with Ka-ching Business Parenting We wanted to be mentored with a program like this so that we could equip our children with the skills they would need to successfully run their own businesses eventually. But as in all things, God has brought His perfect plan to the fore by showing us how He wants us to use this program.

One of Ka-Ching’s key principles is the act of giving. They do not limit it to the mandatory 10% tithe that many give to their church. Our children have used their giving money to buy cans of food for the poor; they have bought blankets for a squatter township for winter; they have helped in raising funds for children afflicted with cerebral palsy. This program was the beginning point for showing our children how as future income earners they will be able to sow money into the lives of the poor and afflicated.

The money that they use to purchase these items comes from the money they have earned from their paid chores which we established in our home for a period of time.

If you are looking for a way to help your children learn the principle of giving, lead by example and magnanimously consider supporting one of the following ministries:
