Registration with the Dept of Education

Hi there

Is it necessary to register our home taught children with the education department? I have not and get a lot of negativity from our family. I feel frightened to as I feel by doing so they will interfere with what I teach my children and I will be expected to "tow the party line" and not be free to teach religion etc.

What about high school. In order for my daughter to study further she will need a recognised matric certificate, but I have a problem with compulsory subjects like life orientation especially since I have looked at the content and I feel that she is too young even as a teenager to see and label pictures of reproductive organs? Am I being too protective?
