Reporting instructional plan to school district

by Amie

Hi,
I have recently come across Dr. Raymond Moore and his wife's books about home education and it is something I want to adapt to and follow in our homeschool adventure. My dilemma is being uncertain about what I report to my school district in lines of what we will be covering for each grade and the curriculum. Would you be able to tell me where I can either find sample pages of this, or what I can use as a guide? I am not sure why I am having such a hard time with this.
Thank you for your help,
Amie

INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN TO SCHOOL DISTRICT
by: Basheerah

Hi Amie

I'm not sure where you are from, but each country usually has their own education system with minimum requirements for children. In South Africa, we have an education department for those who wish to register their children but many homeschooling families chose an alternative route, for example registering with the home schooling association or another legal organisation for protection against the education department in case there are "issues" regarding them not following the national curriculum. You should find out if there are any such organisations where you live and consider registering with one of them. They will probably also be able to help you with progress reports etc. As far as curriculum is concerned, you need to decide what your and your family's needs are. The most important subjects for further university education is always Math, English and the sciences. With those subjects one can usually get into any course. If your District is homeschool friendly, perhaps you can go in and see someone who will be happy to guide you as far as curriculum and minimum requrirements are concerned.

I hope this has been helpful, all the best
