I suppose my work at home mom journey started when I fell pregnant with our first child some 12 years ago. I knew that I could never delegate the responsibility of raising our children.

I also knew that I wanted to be our children’s primary care giver and be there for all the milestones in their lives. I wanted to build strong relationships with them, so that when they were going through rough patches, they would turn to me for help.

BUT, I needed to earn an income. To help my husband and I achieve the goal of me staying at home we sold our large two-income-home and moved to a smaller home. But this was still not enough with a second child with health problems as well as a third on the way!

We needed to find a business opportunity to earn money for incidentals and for unexpected costs as we could not save much for those surprises. Thus began the search on how to be a work at home mom.

I worked on Saturday mornings as a teller at a bank – but I was away from home.

Then we signed up as an AMWAY consultants, but building this business took me away from home too.

Then I happened onto Dorling Kindersley Family Learning where we had a chance to purchase some fantastic books for our children and get to sell them with a network of consultants under us.

DK worked well until our 3rd child was 2 months old and our oldest needing a little more than play in her day. And building this business still took me away from home showing books in homes, schools and businesses. By this time I realized that there is a big difference between being a "work FROM home" mom and a "work AT home" mom.

As things went I dabbled in this and that until this year, 2006, when I was introduced to SiteBuildIt! by a friend who had just created a wonderful preschool activity page.

Knowing the world’s movement into the internet and the way that people from all walks of life daily surf the net for valuable information, SiteBuildIt! offered me a chance to encourage and help homeschooling moms and use my interest and passion – my love for books, living life with our children and homeschooling - to earn an income.

The greatest benefit for me with using SiteBuildIT! is that I do not have to leave my home for work! I can get up from my computer whenever I needed to put a plaster on a toe, or make a cup of juice for a little one. I am here and available for our children during my working hours if they want to show me their picture they have just drawn or when I need to talk through a training issue with them. Truly a work at home mom's dream!

What SBI is not is a get rich quick scheme, nor is it money for nothing. There have been some learning curves, but at every corner SBI and the wonderful people on the forums have been there to help me through and build this site that you see before you, and I did not have a shred of html in me!

All you bring to the table is your passions, interest, time and motivation.
